Diego Lopez - LSE Ambassador to the Middle East

Diego was born in the exotic Canary Islands, in Spain. He completed his undergrad studies in Milan and Madrid, before moving to London and earning his Masters at the LSE. He has since then developed his professional career in Corporate Finance and Sovereign Wealth Funds across Europe, Middle East, Far East Asia and Latin America, currently serving as Director for PwC, and based in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Diego displays a significant commitment with the LSE, having been involved in the Alumni Associations of Spain, Hong Kong and Brazil before, and being an active mentor of students and alumni since 2009, and a member of the Group Leaders Support Global Sub-Committee since 2013. He enjoys swimming (he was part of the London University Swimming Team!), travelling (55+ countries) and writing about global politics and economics.

Sadiq Jafar - Patron LSE UAE Alumni Association

Sadiq is the Managing Partner of the Dubai office of Hadef & Partners, a law firm of 85 lawyers. Sadiq has extensive corporate and commercial law experience, particularly in respect of inward investment, joint ventures, banking and finance, energy and infrastructure, and mergers and acquisitions. In addition to advising multinationals and regional companies, Sadiq works closely with family groups in the Middle East region in relation to corporate strategy and succession planning. Sadiq gained an LLB in 1986 from the London School of Economics & Political Science. He was a member of the LSE rugby and football teams during his 3 years at the School. He qualified as a Barrister of Gray’s Inn, London in 1987 and later transferred to the Roll of Solicitors of the Senior Courts of England and Wales. Prior to joining Hadef & Partners, Sadiq’s experience includes Associate at Clifford Chance from 1987 to 1993; and General Counsel of Crescent Petroleum until 1996.

Andul Wahab Al-Halabi - Patron LSE UAE Alumni Association

Mr Al-Halabi is currently the Group Chief Investment Officer at Meeras Holdings. His previously held positions include those with KPMG as a Partner overseeing the transactions and restructuring group, Dubai Holding group companies, including Chief Executive Officer at Dubai Properties LLC and Chief Operating Officer of Dubailand. He was also a Senior Vice President at Emirates Financial Services. Previously, Mr Al-Halabi spent nine years at KPMG in the UK specialising in insolvency and restructuring. Mr Al-Halabi holds a Bsc in Economics from the London School of Economics. He is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, a Member of the Securities Institute and holds an Executive MBA from Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées.

Yunib Siddiqui - Patron LSE UAE Alumni Association

Yunib is the CEO and Owner at Jones the Grocer. Yunib set up his first business at the age of 23, not long after completing his BSC in International Trade and Development at the LSE.  Working with small producers in Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa, Ghana, Morocco and subsequently forming a joint venture in Vietnam he designed and produced handmade collectables for distribution to independent retailers across the UK, Europe and the USA. In 2003 Yunib joined the board of Team-A ventures as Brand Development Director. Team-A is the country franchisee for Next, mothercare, ELC, Debenhams, Accessorize, Monsoon, Timberland & Fitflop in Pakistan. Yunib was instrumental in bringing some of these brands to Pakistan where Team-A has over 33 stores. A consummate foodie, for as long as he can remember, Yunib stumbled across jones the grocer in wallpaper* magazine in April 2008. The first jones store opened in September 2009 in Abu Dhabi. Today jones the grocer operates 8 stores with over 250 employees in the UAE. Yunib often writes a business column for The National, plays squash and is currently working on his first novel.

Ayla Iqbal - Events Coordinator, Dubai

Ayla is currently a Proposition and Conference Manager with Middle East Global Advisors, specializing in finance related events.  She grew up in different countries, including the USA, Brazil, Singapore and Poland, before going to the UK for her undergraduate degree.   Ultimately, she got her MSc in Comparative Politics (Conflict Studies) at LSE, and graduated in 2009.  A self declared foodie, who loves books - she is happy to recommend restaurants and books to those who ask.

Manasi Tripathi - Communications Officer

Manasi is from the 2009 graduate batch and has over 10 years of academic and professional experience of covering financial institutions, across different geographies. In the last 5 years, she has lived in 4 different countries and loves everything about her nomad life! She is based in Dubai and is your point of contact for all matters related to the Association's communications. Interests: Hot Yoga (most recently), traveling, reading pretty much everything like a scavenger.

Madhav Kanchan - Mentorship Officer and Events Coordinator Dubai

Madhav graduated in BSc Actuarial Science in 2009 and has spent a total of five wonderful years in the UK; three for studying and two for working. He is currently working in his family business, Nutty nuts Foodstuff Factory LLC ,as the Business Development Director.
