LSE Middle East Alumni Symposium
The UAE Alumni Association met again on April 30, 2014 at the Ritz Carlton, DIFC, in Dubai to celebrate the launch of the Association in an event hosted by H.E Sheikh Nayhan Bin Mubarak Al Nayhan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development and The Abraaj Group. This time we had more than 300 alumni join us. The launch of the UAE Alumni Association was the perfect setting to bring together top LSE Academics with graduates of the School. The Symposium provided a platform for analysis of different perspectives on the economic, social, policial and cultural role of the Middle East in today’s world. Chaired by alumnus and CEO of The Abraaj Group Mr Arif Naqvi, Professor Craig Calhoun led the discussion on Middle Eastern prospects in facing global challenges. Professor Danny Quah concentrated on the role of the GCC in the leaderless world; followed by a look at the regional balance of power after the Iraqi Elections presented by Professor Toby Dodge.
